Four Lucky Customers Win Big For Recycling

by on June 24, 2013

fridge_2Congratulations to the four Ohio residents who’ve each won a $250 gift card by recycling an old refrigerator or freezer during AEP Ohio’s “Recycle & Win” spring promotion.

Contest winners include residents from Reynoldsburg, Mount Sterling, Hilliard and Delphos. All four winners received a $250 gift card in addition to a $50 incentive check for recycling outdated refrigerators and freezers.

“I originally bought my spare freezer to store extra meat,” said Reynoldsburg winner Richard Duval. “I was going to just get rid of it, but my friend told me about AEP Ohio’s program, so I figured I might as well get $50 bucks for it.”

The appliance recycling program is available year-round; however, during the spring cleaning months of April and May, participants enjoyed complimentary home pickup of energy-wasting refrigerators or freezers, and earned a guaranteed $50 incentive check — both standard program amenities — but were also entered in a drawing to win one of four $250 rewards.

“I had already decided to replace my old fridge with a newer model, and then I heard about the program from the AEP Ohio newsletter,” said Mount Sterling winner Jessica Meyers. “It was simple to have the old unit picked up, start saving money and earn the $50 incentive.”

Do you have the oldest working refrigerator or freezer in Ohio? Recycle it with AEP Ohio by July 31 and you could win up to $1,250 towards the purchase of an ENERGY STAR appliance.

When you recycle your working refrigerator or freezer with AEP Ohio, we’ll pick up the appliance for free and send you a check for $50. Call 1-877-545-4112 or by visit AEPOhio.com/WasteLess to schedule a pick up. Refrigerators and freezers must be in working order with an inside measurement between 10 and 30 cubic feet —standard size for most units. A maximum of two units per household a year will be accepted. Incentive checks arrive by mail six to eight weeks after the appliances are picked up.
